Overview

The Pirate Metrics (or AARRR) framework consists of user-behavior metrics that are crucial to all product-led growth companies.

There are five components: Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, and Revenue.

Most startups focus on vanity metrics, such as likes on social media. The Pirate Metrics ensure you're focused on measures that actually impact business results. If you’re familiar with the Marketing Funnel, you’ll realize the Pirate Metrics mirrors each conversion stage.

To use this framework effectively, run A/B tests frequently to identify bottlenecks in the funnel process.
